It is non-toxix, harmless and approved for application in food industry. Its solution is clear, transparent, and very light coloured. Alcoholic or water-alkali solution can be obtained from Dewaxed bleached Shellac powder.
Application
Used in Pharamaceuticals for coating of Capsules, Pills and Tablets, to protect internalingredients. it is used in many industries of cosmetics, Food packaging, Chocolate coatings, Foils and Laminated paoers, Ink, Flexografics, Hair-laquer, Insulating varniches, Leather dressing, Electrical and Electronic and Rubber compounds etc.
Solubility
Dewaxed Bleached Shellac is readily dissolved in an Aqueous Alkaline solution at a temperature of 600C on stirring. Soluble in Solvrnts containing hydroxyl group but insolublein Glycerol, Palmitic acid, either and Hrdrocarbon. Soluble in Menthanol, ethanol, Propanol, Acetic acid, Formic acid etc.
